On a rainy evening of October 2004 I was sitting with a friend together for a beer and we discussed about this and that, as I addressed the issue observatory. Quick was drawn a design, and also a place found in the backyard. Size 4x4 meter should probably suffice. Preferably I had start promptly at the very next day with a spade and the foundations excavated. But unfortunately in Germany it is not so easy, because the hard bureaucratic hurdles to be taken yet.

The construction of an observatory of this size without a building permit is not possible in Germany. Fortunately, after a long search I have found an engineering firm that my ideas and drawings transformed into an authority-friendly "package". Mr Schneeweiss was immediately excited about the project and has offered his assistance. It has been calculated in the static, the usual formalities (sounds simple, but it is not!) and new plans in the desired format.

On January 20, 2006 was it finally arrived. The building permit was there! Now we had only to wait for suitable weather, but this was no problem, because I sawed in the meantime the ribs of the dome.

On April 1, 2006, then the first sod was turned, and approximately 1 year later it was done.
